spatha straubing nydamThis spatha is a replica of an original from the 3rd century AD from the Straubing Nydamtype. Spathae were introduced into the Roman army by Germanic auxiliae. This sword is 73 long, with a blade of 63 cm long and 5,5 cm wide. The hilt is made of bone and decorated with brass ornaments. The spatha weighs 1,4 kg and comes with a wooden scabbard, covered with red leather. The scabbard is made after parts found back in Rhineland.
